Joint Meeting with the Blomidon Naturalists Society
Join us for a special joint meeting with the Blomidon Naturalists Society—an evening of shared interests, community, and nature-focused learning.
Grow Native Workshop
A free workshop for members interested in starting native plants from seed.
Growing native plants from seed is the best way to fill your garden at a very low cost. This half-day workshop will take you through all the steps, starting with seed collection. It will offer free seeds, and hands-on experience for collecting, sorting and storing seeds. Participants can also consider joining a group effort to grow native plant seedlings for the Valley Gardeners annual plant sale.

Place: Home of Carolyn Green (address will be sent to registrants)
Program: Overview of methods & materials, garden tour to view seedheads & collect seeds, participation in seed sorting storing and sharing of seeds. Refreshments will be served.

Carolyn Green is a member of the Valley Gardeners Club, a Master Gardener and chair of the local Butterflyway Project. Her garden has been certified by the Canadian Wildlife Federation as a wildlife-friendly habitat.
September Garden Picnic & Tour
Date: Saturday, September 27
Time: 2:00–4:00 PM
Location: Prescott House, 1633 Starr’s Point Rd, Port Williams, NS (rain or shine; talks/refreshments on the sun porch if needed)
Overview:
Join the Valley Gardeners Club for an informal afternoon to celebrate our club and the season. Prescott House staff will share insights into Charles Prescott’s role in Nova Scotia’s apple industry and the history of the estate gardens, followed by a garden tour. Refreshments will be provided.

Meeting – Behind the Blooms: The Work of Building a Flower Farm
Behind the Blooms: The Work of Building a Flower Farm” — Join us Sept 9 at NSCC Kingstec as Sarah from Two Birds One Stone Farm shares her journey, from the beauty to the challenges of flower farming. Free for members, $5 for guests. All are welcome!
Bus Trip to Annapolis Royal
We’re planning a special Valley Gardeners Club day trip to beautiful Annapolis Royal on Saturday, June 28th, and we’d love to know if you’d be interested in joining us!
Here’s the rough itinerary for the day:
8:00 AM – Depart from New Minas by bus
Morning – Enjoy a guided tour of the Annapolis Royal Historic Gardens
Midday – Free time to explore Annapolis Royal on your own
(Suggestions: visit the farmers market, enjoy a restaurant lunch, bring a picnic, or browse the local shops!)Afternoon – Visit Summerland Nurseries on the way back
Approx. 4:15 PM – Return to New Minas
Cost: $25 per person
(This includes transportation and entrance to the gardens. Payment will be collected at a later date.)
